Finding cover in a time of turmoil

The trick over the next few days and weeks is going to be spotting those stocks that the market has badly mispriced. I had an initial stab at this on Saturday; there will be plenty more, if you do not take too apocalyptic a view of our prospects, or if, like me, you think the actual chances of our exiting the EU are not as great as they might now seem.

Yesterday, with the markets off again and the FTSE 250 ending down seven points, was another good one for bargain hunters. With UK gilts yielding below 1 per cent for the first time, some of the yields on offer from equities are looking attractive enough on their own.
